๐Ÿ’Ž The Chapter That Reveals How God Fulfills What He Had Announced Before Through David
The previous chapter, 2 Samuel 6, showed:
David experiencing failure in his first attempt to bring the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord...
  • On the second attempt, he realized that the previous method was wrong;
  • and he showed humility before God, together with the proper way to transport the Ark.
๐Ÿ“– Summary of 2 Samuel 7
Right from verse 1, it says that the Lord had given David rest from all his enemies around him, and David was living peacefully in his palace. This was the moment.
1. At that time, David called Nathan and said that he himself was living in a house of cedar, while the Ark of God remained inside a tent.
2. The Lord speaks to David through Nathan.
  • From the day He brought Israel out of Egypt until that day, the Lord had moved from place to place in a tent and a tabernacle.
  • He had never said to any of the tribes of Israel, “Why have you not built a house of cedar for Me?”
  • He would make David's name great, like the names of the great men of the earth.
  • It would not be like the days of the judges; the Lord would give him rest from all his enemies.
  • The Lord would make a house for David and raise up a descendant from him, establishing his kingdom.
  • The Lord would be a father to him, and he would be a son. If he committed sin, the Lord would discipline him, but would not take His mercy away from him as He had done with Saul.
  • David's house and kingdom would remain forever before the Lord, and his throne would be established forever.
3. David goes in, sits before the Lord, and gives thanks.
  • After hearing God's promises, David gives thanks to the Lord for making all these things known to him.
  • He says that there is no nation on earth like Israel, the people whom God chose for Himself and whose God He became.
  • David ends his prayer by asking that, according to the Lord's word, God would bless his house and let it remain forever before Him.
An Interesting Point - 1
There does not seem to be any special treasure in 2 Samuel 7. ❌
→ However, the words of this chapter remind us that the treasure was connected to something mentioned elsewhere. Is the text directing us to look back at what had already been announced?

๐Ÿ‘‰ The Treasure That Had Been Announced - 1
๐Ÿ“Œ 2 Samuel 7:1 and the promise in verse 11...
➡️ Deuteronomy 12:10
When the Lord your God gives you rest from all your enemies around you and you live in safety...
are connected to this promise. ๐Ÿ’Ž
๐Ÿ‘‰ The Treasure That Had Been Announced - 2
๐Ÿ“Œ In 2 Samuel 7, when the Lord says that He would make a house for David and that his descendant would build a house for His name, it seems appropriate to say that this is the chapter where a previously announced word begins to be revealed. ๐Ÿ’Ž
➡️ Deuteronomy 12:5 The place He had chosen (a decision already determined)
But you shall go to the place that the Lord your God will choose from among all your tribes to put His name there.
➡️ Deuteronomy 12:9–11 The place He would choose (a future decision)
➡️ Deuteronomy 12:14
But only at the place that the Lord will choose among one of your tribes...
➡️ Deuteronomy 12:21
If the Lord your God has chosen the place to put His name there...
An Interesting Point - 2
Deuteronomy 12, as well as chapters 14 and 16, repeatedly mentions the place that the Lord would choose to put His name there.
Then, when we arrive at 2 Samuel 7, the Lord says that He had never spoken to any of the tribes of Israel about building a house of cedar for Him.
๐Ÿ”Ž Here, an interesting question arises.
๐Ÿ“Œ How does the Lord fulfill what He Himself had previously announced?
** For example, when God announced to Abraham that his descendants would go to a foreign land and return after four generations, we can think about the fact that Moses was chosen for this purpose...
** If there was already a place chosen by the Lord to put His name there, then we should understand that David was chosen for this purpose, and that God moved David's heart to desire to build a house for the Lord. ๐Ÿ’Ž
✔️ This can be understood precisely because the Lord Himself said that He had never directly commanded any of the tribes of Israel to build a house for Him. ๐Ÿ’Ž
๐Ÿ˜„ Then... was there also a treasure in 2 Samuel 7?
๐Ÿ“ The Treasure Found in Chapter 7 Is Truly an Extraordinary Treasure
I consider the treasure found in 2 Samuel 7 to be truly extraordinary, because it may provide a key to understanding a question that has long made people curious.
Until then, I had been wondering: How does the Lord God accomplish what He says He will do?
  • Does God have a special script prepared in advance?
๐Ÿ“ One Discovery That Emerged from an AI Challenge
During the 146th competition, the artificial intelligence Claude challenged one part of my summary of chapter 7.
Claude argued that saying “God moved David's heart” should be regarded as an inference based on the circumstances.
๐Ÿ˜„ My response was:
The Lord had not commanded anyone to build a house for Him. Yet David decided to do it.
How should we understand this? The Bible repeatedly records that God moves people's hearts. And apart from this explanation, there is no other answer that fits the pattern repeatedly recorded in Scripture!
ใ…Žใ…Ž While responding to the AI's challenge, I realized that one piece of the puzzle I had been wondering about for a long time had finally fallen into place.
The AI later agreed with this explanation and confirmed that the same pattern had already been recorded elsewhere in Scripture.
  • Exodus 4:21; 7:3 : God announced beforehand that He would harden Pharaoh's heart, and the ten plagues unfolded as He had said.
  • Exodus 35:21, 29 : People whose hearts were moved willingly brought offerings for the construction of the Tabernacle.
  • 1 Samuel 10:26 : Warriors whose hearts God had moved followed Saul.
  • 1 Samuel 11:6 : Even Saul, who had not previously demonstrated great qualities, was powerfully filled with the Spirit of God and won the battle.
๐Ÿ’Ž We can see that, within the Lord's plan, He accomplishes His will by moving people's hearts to fulfill what He has determined. Amen!
